Simone Baroncini
In October 2025, I completed my Master’s degree in Mathematics at Università di Trento, curriculum "Mathematics and Statistics for Life and Social Sciences", track "Modelling, Statistics and Analysis of Biosystems". My Master's thesis reported the results obtained during my 6-month internship within the Clinical Pharmacology Team at Chiesi Farmaceutici. Indeed, the research activity focused on the development of a mathematical model designed to accelerate the clinical development of a novel respiratory drug. In November 2025 I began a PhD in the Department of Mathematics at Università di Trento in collaboration with Chiesi.
Research Interests
My research interests include the development of mathematical models to characterize novel pharmaceutical compounds from the early development phase. In particular, my aim is to study pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) models, also from a population perspective in the context of non-linear mixed effects (NLME) models, physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling, different routes of administration, the metabolic pathways of drugs, dose/exposure-response modelling and the use of innovative biomarkers and clinical endpoints to improve the probability of pharmacological success (PoPS) of a drug.
